It all started with a bad massage.
On a spring evening in 2016, Shelagh was getting the worst massage of her life and her mind started to wander. Hoping to distract herself from the 30 minutes she had left, she started thinking about working with Margie and what she could do to make that happen.
A few days later, Margie was visiting Shelagh when she brought up her idea. From that moment, Shelagh and Margie started talking, dreaming, and thinking about what The Sprinkle Sisters could look like.
The first product they designed was a cupcake kit and even though you’ll find cupcake kits in the shop, they definitely looked a lot different from what you see now. They used punches and stamps and went to the bulk food store to create sprinkle mixes. They had the idea but hadn’t yet figured out how to make it great.
Then came the glitter
Pretty quickly, Margie and Shelagh knew they needed to adjust how they made their products. They invested in a cutting machine and started using Margie’s design background to create custom party supplies with gorgeous glitter card stock. Shelagh’s baking expertise was the perfect complement for The Sprinkle Sisters and that’s how their line of baking and party supplies took shape.
A few years after completing makeup school, Shelagh added trained baker to her resume. Cake batter, hiking and her two little girls are a few of her favourite things.
Margie comes to The Sprinkle Sisters with a background in Photography, Art History, and Design. The colour turquoise, the water, and fireworks are three of her favourite things.
Our Sprinkle Empire is growing and we couldn’t do it without help. In addition to our amazing families, Whitney and Victoria (L-R) are two of our Sprinkle team members. Whitney takes care of a lot of packaging and shipping responsibilities, makes some of our sprinkles and is game for helping us however we need. (Especially with organization!). Victoria is a wiz on the Cricut, does amazing research and lends help with marketing. She is also an amazing caregiver to Shelagh’s littlest sprinkle which means Margie and Shelagh get uninterrupted work time a few times a week.
